Well what can I say. I didn’t get started until tonight – spent too much time tinkering with site design earlier – and for a while I didn’t think I was going to make it. For some reason I’ve been feeling tired all day, even though I slept in and haven’t really done anything much.
But with a bit of a last minute push (over 1100 in the last 30 minutes) I managed to get to my goal for the day, the big 70k. It’s not that special in and off itself, but getting 70k on day 14 means I’m still averaging over 5k per day. Now I need to use the next couple of days to build up my margins so I can keep up that average over the next week.
I’m also getting more and more ideas for a possible sequel to the story I’m currently working on, so if I should finish it with a good chunk of November still left I may just continue writing the sequel to see where the wordcount will go. That’s completely speculative so far though. Even at 5k per day on average I’m pretty sure it’ll be a while yet before this story is finished.

And there was me thinking I could at least keep the difference between our wordcounts constant – pfff. But congrats on that pretty word count nonetheless.

Well I have to put in a bit of a sprint this weekend to boost the count. Next week isn’t too busy, but I’m going to be away part of the next weekend, so that’s going to be a bit of a wordcount hit. Still I figure if I can build up a good margin I can keep the 5k average going for the next week or so.

5K average is amazing, respect! I just checked and my average is somewhere around 3K, which surprises me. But I guess two days with 7K and 8K respectively helped to boost that.

I just checked my own averages column in my NaNo spreadsheet, and I was surprised (and delighted) to find I’ve only had a single day where my average was below 5k so far. And that was the 7th, the day before the 16k sprint. Of course there is a very definite pattern there. My average shoot up every weekend and then falls during the week, but so far I’m pretty close to keeping a steady 5k going.
