NaNoWriMo 2008 – Day 16 – 90,009

Posted November 16th, 2008 at 23:40 in NaNoWriMo 2008 by Jarsto

I thought I was going to shoot for a higher wordcount today, but then I remembered I have a visiter coming tomorrow, which during NaNo means I had to go into a doubly severe form of “emergency tidying mode”. After all I haven’t done anything more than the bare minimum (and have in fact done less where and when I could get away with it) for over two weeks now. Except for my recent desk-tidying procrastination.

Even so I managed to keep to my goal of at least 10k per day for weekends. And I managed to get within 10k of getting another digit on my count. Right now my official aim (5k per day) says be there by the 20th. But if things go at all well I’m hoping to get there early. I have some plans for next weekend, and while they include a write-in I’m pretty sure it’s going to be difficult to keep up 10k for Saturdays and Sundays once those hit. So I’m going to try to keep some of my advantage going into this week with me as I prepare to go into next week.

I also seem to be getting better and better at the final sprint. I have a few more things to do tonight, so I decided to stop at 23:30. But in order to get the right wordcount that meant sprinting 1500 words between 23:00 and 23:30. I won’t say it’s the first time ever, not without checking. But it’s certainly one of the first times I’ve managed to sustain 50wpm of writing output for any prolonged period of time.

So the final totals for the day is 10,001 words for a total count of 90,009. Which brings my daily average all the way up to 5,626. Now let’s see how much of that I can keep up for the rest of the week…

I did some amazing sprints yesterday, but 1,500 words in 30 minutes? Awesome!
And about the cleaning *looks around in her apartment* Well, *cough*, I could use a visitor as well to get me to the cleaning part. I am afraid I am running out of plates and forks and since there is no dishwasher except me, that might mean I really have to sacrifice half an hour today. *sigh*

You only have half an hour’s worth of dishes? I’m disappointed in you grasshopper ;) Or you could just be considering washing 30 minutes worth so you can keep going for a while again, in which case I’m impressed ;)

Seriously though the visit is over now and I’m celebrating my clean kitchen by ordering pizza (no washing up except one knife). Though in order to fully justify the pizza, even with a monday night discount, I’ve set my official goal for today at a full 5k. I may need another 1500 word sprint to make that happen.

*ROFL* Come on, cut me some slack, ’tis my first time NaNo-ing.
You looked right through me, though. Honestly, the last time I didn’t wash up for so long it took me a little over an hour. I need to dry off the dishes at some point to make room for the rest of them, tiny kitchen. But I am becoming an expert in the art of recycling. Really, who needs more than one knife and one plate? If you use them all the time, there’s no need to wash them, really.

Pizza sounds really good…I should start considering that. But that would mean I’d need to clean up first so I can fully benefit from not using up dishes to fix dinner. These are really tough decisions…

I won’t comment on how close you came to describing the way I live during most of NaNo ;)
