Right now these photos are still preliminary versions. They need a little post-production work to really come out perfectly. Having said that, I quite like them already.
It was more a whim than any real expectation of taking photos that made me take my camera with me when I went to visit my mother in Apeldoorn. Even when I decided to take it along when we went for a walk it was mainly a whim. But sometimes whims can pay off. This one did when we ran into some sort of waterfowl (I'll have to look up the species later) building a new nest.
I actually missed the first branch it took to its nest, but managed to catch the next couple. When it then sat on its new nest and started pulling up and rearranging things I was pretty much shooting as soon as my camera was done with the previous photo.
The next day, when I was waiting for the train back home, a little bonus shot arrived, in the form of a steam train, operated for tourists.
